UGC-NET Relaxation in Age Limit of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for June, 2021 cycle

UGC-NET Exam Latest Updates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has merged the December 2020 and June 2021 examinations together.

Everyone can apply for this exam to be held in CBT (Computer Based Test) mode. Those who could not apply in December 2020 or who registered themselves for this examination of December 2020 but could not complete the application process can also apply.

Age relaxation for JRF

In this exam, candidates have been given relaxation in the maximum age limit for JRF. For this, the maximum age limit has now been made 31 years as on 1 October 2021. All categories of women, SC, ST, OBC, PwD, third gender are given 5 years relaxation in the upper age limit as before.

  • Last date for online registration – 5 September 2021
  • Last date for submission of application fee – 6 September 2021
  • Last date for correction of error in application form – 7 September 2021
  • Exam Date – 6 October to 11 October 2021
  • The exam will be conducted in two shifts from 9 am to 12 and 3 to 6 pm. The official notification with details is available on the official website of NTA www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in as well as www.nta.ac.in.

Relaxation in Age Limit of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) for
June, 2021 UGC-NET cycle


In continuation to the Public Notice dated 10th August 2021 for submission of online application form
of June 2021 UGC-NET for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant
Professor’, it is hereby informed that the following age limit for JRF will be applicable for this current
examination only i.e. June, 2021 UGC-NET cycle:

  1. JRF: Not more than 31 years as on 01.10.2021 (October 1, 2021). (This age limit is applicable for
    the current examination only).
    A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates belonging to OBC-NCL (as per the
    Central list of OBC available on website: www.ncbc.nic.in)/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories
    and to women applicants.
  2. Relaxation will also be provided to the candidates with research
    experience, limited to the period spent on research in the relevant / related subject of postgraduate degree, subject to a maximum of 5 years, on production of a certificate from
    appropriate authority, which should be a recognized Indian university / Institute of National
    Importance / foreign university which is duly approved / recognized / accredited in its own
    Country / Public Sector Undertaking of Government of India / State Government in India.
  3. The research should not have been carried out towards completion of graduation or postgraduate degree(s). Three years relaxation in age will be permissible to the candidates with
    L.L.M. degree.
  4. A relaxation of upto 5 years is provided to the candidates who have served in
    the armed forces subject to the length of service in the armed forces upto the first day of the
    month in which the concerned UGC-NET is concluded. Total age relaxation on the above
    ground(s) shall not exceed five years under any circumstances.
  1. Assistant Professor: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant Professor.
