About National Testing Agency (NTA):
The Ministry of Education, Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organization under Society Registration Act, 1860 for conducting efficient, transparent and international standards tests in order to assess the knowledge,
competency and abilities of candidates for admission to premier education institutions and for other purposes.
The objectives of NTA, inter-alia, include:
- To conduct efficient, transparent and international standard tests in order to assess the competency of candidates for admission.
- To undertake research on educational, professional and testing system to identify gaps in the knowledge systems and take steps for bridging them.
- To produce and disseminate information and research on education and professional development standards.
About Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission (A.S.S.A.M):
Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission (A.S.S.A.M) was established in the year 2001 as a registered society under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860 for implementation of Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) in Assam.
Providing education to all children of the age group 6-14 years has been a directive principle of the Constitution of India. In Assam, Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission (A.S.S.A.M) has been implementing the National flagship programme of Sarba Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) with the basic objectives of:
- providing schooling facilities in the habitations hitherto un-served by any schooling facility in a clear time frame;
- enrolling all children of the age group 6-14 years in schools/alternative schools/back to school camps etc. retaining the children within the schooling system for the whole period of elementary education;
- improving quality in education through teachers’ training, provision of teaching learning materials, textbooks etc.;
- promoting social justice amongst socially backward communities, caste, tribes etc. and gender sensitivity amongst all and effective involvement of Panchayati Raj Institutions and Peoples’ Committees in management of schools
Axom Sarba Siksha Abhiyan Mission, Assam proposes to conduct Maths and Science Olympiad for students studying in Class VI to Class XII in Govt. Schools in Assam.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has been entrusted with the conduct of conducting the Assam Olympiad examination 2021.
About Assam Olympiad:
The Assam Olympiad is aimed at bringing the most talented secondary and higher secondary students of Govt. schools of Assam together in a friendly competition of the highest level. The Assam Olympiad provide a stimulus to begin a career in science or mathematics, to undertake a lifelong journey into the realms of exciting intellectual challenges.
Mode of Exam: The exam will be held in paper pen mode. Candidates will be required to mark their answers on OMR answer sheets.
Paper pattern: The paper will be objective and will comprise Multiple Choice Questions.
Eligibility: Candidates who are presently studying in Class VI to Class XII in Govt. Schools located in the State of Assam are eligible to apply/appear in the exam.
Scheme of exam: Question paper will be separate for each Class.

Note: Section II for Classes XI and XII will comprise 3 sub sections on Physics, Chemistry and Biology, of 10 questions each.
Duration of the exam: 3 hours
Exam fee: Nil, Candidates are not required to pay any exam fee.
Exam Cities: Exam will be held at 145 cities in Assam. See Annexure I of the Information Bulletin for the list of exam cities.
Language of the paper: Question paper will be in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo, and English. Candidates can opt for any one of the languages specified.

Reservation:
The exam is for assessment of aptitude and proficiency of the candidates in Science and Mathematics. Hence, the concept of reservation does not apply.
However, candidates are required to indicate their category, i.e. General, SC,ST, OBC(NCL), EWS, PwD etc in their application form. This data is captured in the application for research purposes.
Candidates with Disabilities will be given extra time/scribe as per Govt. Guidelines.
Post examination process:
- After the conduct of examinations, experts shall verify the answer keys for the set that has been administered.
- NTA will display Provisional Answer Keys & recorded responses of each student (accessible through unique enrolment no) on the website https://ao.nta.ac.in on a date communicated through students through NTA website and public notice/press release in advance.
- The candidates, who are not satisfied with the answer key, may challenge by filling online application form ONLY. No fee will be charged from the candidates.
- Experts examine the challenges received, and if needed key is revised.
- The result will be compiled on the basis of final answer keys.
- No grievance with regard to answer key(s) after declaration of result will be entertained. The NTA’s decision on the challenges shall be final and no further communication will be entertained.
Declaration of results:
Results will be displayed on the website https://ao.nta.ac.in, in the month of April 2021. A Public Notice will be released on the NTA website www.nta.ac.in announcing the date when the results will be declared.
All those who appeared in the exam will be provided a Score Card giving the details of the exam in which they appeared and the marks secured by them in the said exam.
Those who appeared in the exam will also be given as Participation Certificate
